Six Months of Spoken Voice PR: A Journey of Freedom, Challenges and Growth

Here we are, half a year into the Spoken Voice PR journey. It’s been an incredible ride so far. It’s been full of unexpected twists, exhilarating highs and of course, challenging moments. But looking back, there’s one feeling that dominates: gratitude.

The sweet taste of freedom

One of the biggest drivers for starting Spoken Voice PR was the desire for autonomy. That freedom has been everything I dreamed of and more. Gone are the days of rigid clock-ins and clock-outs, of watching the minute hand tick by. Now, my workday is shaped by passion and purpose, not by a schedule dictated by others. If inspiration strikes at 10pm, I follow it. If I need a mental break at 2pm, I take it. It’s not working less. It’s working smarter.

This goes beyond just my hours. It’s about having the power to truly sculpt the vision of this agency. Every decision, big or small, rests on my shoulders, and that is incredibly empowering. It means every success feels deeply personal, and every challenge becomes a direct learning opportunity.

Choosing my own adventure

Perhaps one of the most rewarding aspects of this journey has been the ability to hand-pick the clients and partners I work with. In an old-school agency model, where profits trump people, you find yourself working on projects that don't spark genuine interest. Or worse, you end up working with a&&holes. I now get to seek out individuals and brands whose stories resonate with me, whose missions I believe in and with whom I can truly form collaborative, meaningful relationships.

This isn't a luxury. It’s a necessity for delivering the best possible results. When you're genuinely passionate about a client's work, it shows in the quality of your work. When you truly care, you’re not just tracking hours. Every strategy, every pitch and every interaction is authentic. I've had the privilege of meeting and working alongside some truly inspiring people during the past six-months. Fellow entrepreneurs, innovative thinkers and passionate creators.

The ups and downs of the entrepreneurial rollercoaster

Now, I wouldn't be honest if I didn't talk about the "downs." Starting a business from scratch is not for the faint of heart. There have been moments of self-doubt, late nights wrestling with new challenges and the occasional “oh shit, what have I done”.

Even those challenging moments have been invaluable. They've pushed me to grow, to learn new skills and to develop a resilience I didn’t fully know I possessed. Every hurdle overcome has reinforced my belief in Spoken Voice PR and in my ability to make this a success.

One of the biggest lessons? The importance of a strong network. I’ve leaned on mentors, connected with fellow entrepreneurs and been incredibly grateful for the support of friends and family. You can’t build a business on your own.

Looking ahead

As I reflect on these first six months, I’m filled with a sense of accomplishment and excitement for what’s to come. Spoken Voice PR is more than just a business. It’s a manifestation of a dream. A commitment to helping incredible voices be heard. A testament to the power of taking a chance on yourself.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me, collaborated with me and trusted me with your stories. The journey is just beginning, and I can't wait to see what the next six months, and beyond, will bring.
