Desk-Bound to Dream-Driven: Why This Vacation Hits Different
For 25 years, my professional life felt like a different story. It was often spent at the mercy of others' schedules. Tied to a desk, grinding through the motions and putting in the hours, even when I was supposed to be on vacation. I was good at what I did, and I loved it. I learned. I grew. I delivered for my clients with everything I had. But it never felt quite right. Feeling guilty for taking a vacation. Feeling that I was letting others down. Feeling that I couldn’t mix my professional life with my personal life.
Those feelings grew louder and louder over the years, until I finally listened. I wanted to create an agency where the work was still top-notch, where client success was paramount, but where the person behind the desk had a different kind of freedom.
I'm still here for my clients, doing damn good work and building something truly special. The passion is stronger than ever, and the results speak for themselves.
But here's the part that really matters, the part that makes this different. For the first time in many years, I'm writing this from vacation with my family. And more importantly, I'm here for my family. I remember one Summer, I booked a hotel room, away from our vacation house, so I could be on constant calls and get work done. WTF was I thinking?
This isn't a working vacation, constantly checking emails or sneaking in calls. This is about cannonballing into freezing cold lake water, navigating paddleboards, playing games, and making memories that will last a lifetime. It's about being present, fully and completely, with the people who matter most, on my own terms.
If you've ever felt that pull, that desire for something more, know that it's possible. It takes courage, hard work and a clear vision. But the payoff? Being able to truly be there, for your work and for your loved ones, is a reward beyond measure.
